We all love pizza, and who says it can’t be healthy? Replace the greasy ingredients and add more flavor and nutrition to your plate. I also think it’s an excellent opportunity to introduce new flavors to kids, like the basil leave.
Basil has lots of benefits for our health, like: DNA protection plus anti-bacterial properties, anti-inflammatory effects and nutrients essential for cardiovascular health. For more information click here http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=85
This is my simple recipe, full of flavor and easy to do. I hope you try it!
- 4 flat pita breads/flat bread (2 people)
- Your favorite tomato sauce
- cherry tomatoes sliced
- 1 cup basil leaves.
- Cheddar cheese
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese
- Turkey Ham (optional)
- Preheat oven to 400º F. Spread the tomato sauce on pita bread. Cover with cheddar cheese.
- Layer tomatoes, mozzarella and ham. Top with the basil leaves and bake for 15 minutes. (My option is to add the basil leaves after is baked, I really enjoy the flavor of the basil) Remove from oven, cut into 4 slices and enjoy!
