Babies swimming

There is more and more research about the benefits of babies swimming. http://www.babycentre.co.uk/a539332/swimming-with-your-baby provide a full article about this subject.

“Your baby can go swimming at any time from birth, although most baby swimming classes start at six weeks. If you are keen for your baby to be introduced to swimming before he is six weeks old, your partner or someone else can take him. Some private baby swimming classes start as early as four weeks. There’s no need to wait until your baby is immunised before taking him to a pool.

If your baby is younger than six months old only take him to a pool that’s heated to about 32 degrees C. It’s best to go to baby swimming lessons that use warm pools for young babies

A few days ago I was talking to a friend who has a 9 month old baby. She was very concerned about what activities she could do with her baby, and that’s why she preferred to have her in pre-school. But the problem is that most pre-schools accept babies when they’re 1-year-old.

As teachers we have two feelings at the beginning of the school year: excitement for new materials, new students, probably new projects and also, the feeling of being overwhelmed with all the things we have to do and the shortness of time to do them.

We all have these doubts:

1. What do I need to be successful in these first weeks?
2. How can I be an effective teacher?
3. How can I be a happy teacher the whole year?

We will need weeks to talk about these questions, but thinking about years ago, when I first started, these steps helped me to be a better teacher each year.

If you are a new teacher, and you are feeling overwhelmed, these tips are for you:

Teaching opportunities in the summer

One of the main goals, when I started this blog, Educcorner was to show ideas that are accessible to all, and easy materials that do not affect the family budget. So following this goal, here I propose two ideas with materials easy to find in summer time while you are traveling with your kids to the forest, park or beach. We collected stones and shells, for a fun learning moment. Remember that engaging your kids, in the learning process is a great lesson for life. It’s a responsibility that helps to observe their environment carefully looking for opportunities to continue learning.
